Short answer
NotchPop's Units tool converts length, weight, temperature, speed and data quantities using local arithmetic. Select the category, From and To units, then enter the value. Currency is separate because it depends on retrieved exchange rates rather than a fixed conversion factor.
Choose the quantity before entering a number
A bare number such as 12 is ambiguous until you specify what it measures. Begin with the category: Length, Weight, Temp, Speed or Data. Then read both unit labels. Swapping meters and feet or Celsius and Fahrenheit changes the interpretation even when the entered number stays the same.
The converter is convenient for a quick check while writing or reading. It is not a dimensional-analysis system that verifies an entire engineering formula. If a result enters a larger calculation, retain its units in your notes so the next step does not silently treat it as a different quantity.
Use a known value to check the setup
- Open Units and choose the category.
- Choose the From and To units explicitly.
- Enter the number and read the output together with its destination label.
- Use the swap control if you need the reverse direction, then inspect the labels again.
A simple reference value makes an accidental direction error easier to spot: one meter is 100 centimeters, for example. Temperature conversions include an offset, so they are not all simple multiplication. Data units in this implementation use 1024-based steps; do not silently compare them with a service that advertises decimal storage quantities.
Handle invalid input and rounding
If the panel says Invalid number or Unavailable, correct the input and units rather than reading the placeholder as zero. The display formats results for readability, so preserve sufficient precision for your task and avoid pretending a rounded display contains more accurate information than the calculation supplies.
For an exchange-rate estimate, use the separate currency guide and inspect the rate date. For weather, check the forecast's own unit setting before converting manually. Scratchpad can hold the original number, units and result while you move between apps.
