Short answer

NotchPop Keep Awake can prevent idle sleep for a selected duration, until you turn it off, or while a chosen app remains open. The display-on option is separate. It does not override closing a MacBook's lid or guarantee that an interrupted network task will finish.

Choose a temporary session instead of forgetting a setting

A long export, presentation or unattended task may need the Mac to remain available while you stop using the keyboard. Start by deciding how long that need lasts. A timed session is easier to finish deliberately than leaving an indefinite mode running after the job is done.

macOS has its own sleep and display settings, whose availability varies by Mac. NotchPop provides a convenient temporary control near your other tools. It prevents idle sleep while the selected mode is active; it does not supply power, repair a failed app or turn a closed laptop into a supported always-on setup.

Pick a mode and verify the status

  1. Open Keep Awake in NotchPop.
  2. Choose 15m, 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h or 8h, or select Always when you will turn it off yourself.
  3. For an app-based session, choose an already running app. The session ends when that app quits.
  4. Set Keep the display on separately and read the header to confirm the active mode.

An app-based session tracks whether the chosen app is open, not whether a particular export inside it has completed. If the app stays open after finishing, the keep-awake condition can stay active too. Choose a timer instead when the app's lifetime is a poor match for your task.

End the session when the task ends

Use Turn Off when the work finishes early and verify the header returns to normal sleep behavior. If you intentionally leave the display off while keeping the system awake, check the task's own progress when you return. A dark screen is not by itself proof that the Mac slept.

For a download that still stops, follow download sleep checks: the browser, network and power supply need separate investigation. Pair a bounded session with a countdown if a reminder helps you return and inspect the result.
