Short answer

NotchPop accepts readable WebP images and can export PNG locally. Choose the WebP in Files, select PNG and convert. Check the resulting image, especially transparent edges; PNG is a format change, not a way to restore detail lost in the source.

Confirm you have an image file

A downloaded file ending in .webp should open as an image before you try converting it. A failed download or a saved web page can have an unexpected name without being a valid picture. If the file will not open, return to its source and verify the download rather than cycling through output formats.

Use PNG when the receiving tool requires it or when a workflow benefits from its transparency support. A WebP file that already displays correctly in your destination may not need conversion. Keep the original so you can compare the result and avoid unnecessary repeated exports.

Export a PNG in the island

  1. Open the Files tool in NotchPop.
  2. Use Choose image… to select the WebP, or drop it on the converter.
  3. Set Save as to PNG and choose Original image size unless resizing is intentional.
  4. Choose Convert to PNG. Open the result and inspect its corners, transparent areas and fine details.

The PNG option uses lossless output encoding rather than the quality slider offered for JPEG and HEIC. That describes the new encoding; it cannot recreate information missing from a compressed or small input. Conversion stays on your Mac and leaves the source untouched.

Check transparency and upload limits

For a logo or cutout, view the PNG against both light and dark backgrounds in the app where you intend to use it. This helps reveal an unwanted background or rough edges that are hard to see in a thumbnail. Use an image editor if you need masking or background removal; this converter changes format and size.

The PNG may be larger than the WebP. If an upload limit is the obstacle, compare file size and dimensions after conversion rather than assuming PNG is smaller. Resizing images addresses pixel dimensions, while HEIC to JPG explains the separate JPEG workflow. Add the chosen output to your handoff only after checking which file the destination accepts.
