Short answer
Every 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro released since October 2021, and every MacBook Air since the M2 model in July 2022, has a notch. iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, the M1 MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro don't.
Macs with a notch

The notch holds the FaceTime camera. It lets the display reach closer to the top edge of the lid, and the menu bar sits beside it. For a model released after this guide's date, check Apple's tech specs for the display.
Macs without a notch
- MacBook Air with M1 (2020) and every Intel MacBook Air
- 13-inch MacBook Pro, including the M1 and M2 models with the Touch Bar
- Every Intel MacBook Pro
- iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro
- Any external display, including Apple Studio Display and Pro Display XDR
How to check your Mac
- Choose Apple menu > About This Mac.
- Read the model name and year, for example "MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2023".
- Compare it with the table above. Or just look at the top center of your screen.
Can you use notch apps without a notch?
